From the interior pics, it appears that the boost guage is not the original (appears to have white not red backing). As such, it is possibly a mechanical guage, running direct from the manifold pressure, so doesn't need the electronic transducer. (this is my best (un)educated pure guestimate).

Yep. The door cards have also been changed (or changed colour).

The PH ad. mentions that the wishbones have been replaced but Kurgen's ad didn't mention this. I guess they must have been replaced since Kurgen sold it.

It's a very well presented car. Hope it goes to a good home.

Kurgen's last 'ask' was £4k. A more than fair price, if he achieved it (though I wouldn't want to be thought to be commenting on that price....). But not a bargain, especially not if it needed new wishbones.

The new seller is asking £5,795 for the same car, albeit with new seats and doorcards (or with newly re-dyed seats and doorcards?) and perhaps with new wishbones. That car still has 100,000 miles on the clock and a non standard boost gauge.

I wonder whether the window and doorlocks work now?

It's certainly a healthy mark up.

As it happens, I very nearly bought that car in 2005 when the Kia dealer in Dundee was selling it on Ebay. I went up to Dundee and had a good look at the car, which at that time had only 2,500 miles on the clock. It was like new.

103K miles, #597, Norfolk Mustard - ticks all the right boxes, and we've had good answers to e-mail questions....... (new MOT will be done if sale agreed!)

Hello there Elan gurus
Im potentially interested in buying an M100 in the near future
So naturally this has to be the 1st place to start my search for the right car
I'm still in the early throws of this itch and my SWMBO is talking about an MX5 mark 1 -which i guess may be the more sensible and cheapr option
I like the diea that an M100 like an MX5 will be easy for SWMBO to drive and cheap to insure on a classic policy
I do have some lotus history - a previous red Elan S4 FHC ,and 4 previous caterhams [BDR ,Twincam, VXE ,Xflow] and presently a Westie Seight which im presently selling
My mechanic [i dont ever touch my cars ] mike stewart performance engineering [into racing classic elans ] keeps extolling the virtues of M100
due to its bullit proof mechanicals and good safe handling .
Ideally im after a totally sorted car with all the usual niggles sorted -like wishbones , brakes ,belt ,hood ,electrics -ie i dont want to have spend time sorting it -been then done that with expensive engine rebuilds before with my 7s
For me the key things are powerful uprated brakes , needle sharp handling /steering /suspension , and a strong engine /turbo -not too bothered re mileage per se as long as everything is right -ie id rather have a sorted high mileage example than low mileage one with issues arising .
Difficult to know where to start -eg PH -im looking to spend up to max of 6k for right car but am in no rush as i will need to make space in the garage where my westie currently resides
Any pointers -im in Scotingland so would be helpful if anyone has actually driven any of the cars on PH or knows of them 1st hand

local car -so maybe worth a look -not much of a detailed description
Im more interested in mechanicals than whether its concours pr se -lack of description on the key mechanicals doesn't fill me with any confidence
Bascially id like a car owned by a mechanical obsessive oily anorak who has spent his own time sorting out all the usual issues ,rather than one which has polished to death
What about the red 91 for sale posted by member Galsia -doesn't seem to mention rear wishbones

I have a full service history going back to day one, it has always been owned by Lotus enthusiasts. It has had only five owners before me and the cam belt has been done recently.
Everything about the car is in concours condition , I looked at lots of them before I bought this one and I felt that it was the best available.

just spoke on the phone to Peter -decent chap -has owned old school elans before incl a sprint so must be a good egg -but doesnt really know much about the car in terms of whats been done to car in the past but he says he has a tick list from the previous owner who sounded a bit OC
id have to say id prefer to know exactly what needs doing and whats been done

Have now been to see the blue elan SE in glenrothes
v nice well looked after car but IMHO its def not conourse as advertised - everything seems to be as should be with good oil pressure -on a superficial inspection but im no expert by any stretch -wasnt taxed or MOTd so couldnt drive it so ovbiously wouldnt be making any offers until this is possible - so only got to look at it in the garage.
Complete routine service history and mileage provenance are all there -looking thru the file it doesnt seem to have had the wishbones ,brakes ,dampers springs , and other usual suspects attended to on a car of this mileage and age
Belt done 20k miles ago
So i guess my question is whether its best to buy a car where all the usual suspects haven't apparently needed to be done -or is that just storing up troube for the future -ie is it possible that this is just one of those exceptional well looked after cars with no glitches waiting in the wings -or is one better to see a stash of receipts for work done [ie perhaps aa wadge of receipts is a bad sign of a car that hasnt been well looked after over the years -does that make any sense ?
But the owner is a serious lotus entusiast -owned 2 old school elans and was a top rally driver and hill climber in his youth -and he tells me the car drives superb with no issues in any area -so that i think is is reasuring from a proper driver who knows exactly how a car should handle -will still need to drive it myself to get that all importnat feel
