Well, at £2250 with 9 days to go, the market has spoken, and appears to value it higher than I would! (but that is before I go and look at it, so it may be brilliant underneath).

(or, maybe, the seller has got someone hitting the bidding to push it up a bit)

Don't get me wrong, it could still be a great buy for someone, but it needs work done before it can be used, and then more (expensive) work to get the paint sorted...... I hope it finds a good home, because if it is used as a 'parts' car, it's another one gone forever (but if that is what the market dictates, so be it).

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

I suspect that isn't 'real' bidding. Someone is just pushing the price up with no intention of buying.

Does anyone know this Elan on Ebay?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/355928145448 ... R_7kpdW0ZQ

It's a 1992 SE Turbo with very low mileage. There's generally quite a hefty uplift on the price for LHD sports cars but this has been up for sale for over a year, so I was wondering if anyone knows the story behind it, or has been to see it, or can offer any advice to a rookie in all matters Elan?
