Evening All!!
Does anyone have any information on this car at all?
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3565961.htmI am considering buying it and have first refusal. It does need a full respray and requires work in various places. All four alloys need refurbishing and the seats treating. The roof is excellent but does not fit properly on the driver door. Also the grab rail (plastic trim) is shot so needs a replacement. It therefore requires about £2500 - £3000 spending on it to make it nice. It also only has part service history.
It's limited edition number 174.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Regards
John

Does it really need a full re=spray ? Doesn't look like it from the pics.
PS Is the turbo heat shield missing ? Can't see it.

Yes it does as the front end looks like its been shot by a twelve bore (the primer is yellow so it covers it well) and the rear bumper has been resprayed and not very well either! Its all peeling and theres overspray in numerous places. The egde of the doors also are poor and down to the fibreglass
Finally the heat shield is missing as correctly identified.

it has paperwork up to 37k .
then nothing .
mileage has been aproximated by adding the numbers on the (3) clocks present so thought to be about 80k.
push button start on dash.
Jim Clark S2 - 1/12. The one with the Yellow spoke wheels . No 613 on dash (pushed in to factory in wrong order 615 on tub)

Paperwork up to 37k then absolutely nothing to 80k (which is only at best a guesstimate) so no way of checking against old MOT's etc.. That would put me off

It will almost certainly require cam belt, idler tensioner, water pump and other associated belts replaced as there are no records of this

What looks like a peach of an SE on Pistonheads and SELOC today at just over a pound a mile at £9950 :-
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/3297417.htmWillB is a well known and respected trader for anyone that doesn't already know this!
Probably would have had this myself if it had been for sale last May!...

Ronee, not a lot of detail in the advert, nicely placed camera case in pic 4 maybe to cover some of the wear in seats also looks like it has a split in drivers seat and inner window trim on drivers side not fitted correctly? No detail on service history but can ask for that if ringing to view. Says had a respray but could have been a cheap blow over unless they have details/pics.

im not too fussed on the seats as i would be re-trimming them if i bought an SE anyway
i have messaged the seller and he is unclear when it needs a cambelt which concerns me! and its had no major work such as clutch, turbo or gearbox, i may go and view it on saturday as its only about 10 miles max from my house. but FSH is now moving up my priority list!
i would want to see pics and reciepts for the respray as i dont want it to end up looking like that poor Elan on ebay at the moment

I can't tell you anything much about the car's history etc, but I have seen it about a few times in Weston.
Lots of different occassions, with either a bloke or a woman in it (so that don't help at all).
It often parks down at Smurfit Corrugated (cardboad box people) on the Oldmixon Industrial Estate, and i have previously attached a LEC calling-card to the windscreen, but the owner never appeared on this site.......
....anyway, if your quest for a Medina Green S2 now leaves you looking at Red SE's, I know of one locally

Dave
Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it
...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

The North's leading Lotus specialist, and they can't be bothered to fix it themselves? And they missed the AP front brakes from the ad too
Looks a good deal for whoever beat you though. Lesson I learned was if the right car comes up at the right price, there will be competition for it

It was up at 10 grand two years ago in North Shields and has only done 1800 miles since then. Dave Hall said it looked tidy (but overpriced).
