1991 lotus elan turbo 10k original miles

Postby Irvelias » Tue 05.04.2022, 00:47

Hello, I’m new to the group and will be acquiring a 1991 lotus elan turbo with 10k original miles. The car is a 9/10 and I’m curious what ballpark of price I should consider selling the car for?

Welcome to the forum, any specifics as to why you're acquiring it and then selling it so soon?

If it is indeed in North America, it's a rare car, and values are starting to rise, but really exceptional cars are still high teens/low 20s. Check BringATrailer for comps.

The other thing to remember is that a car with that low of mileage is generally pretty original, but that includes the wear items. Having not been driven is NOT good for the car. If you do a thorough service (timing belt/fluids/tires/etc) before selling, you're likely to get a little more money when you sell. Gives a potential buyer peace of mind.

Is this the red one in Pennsylvania ? Color actually has an impact on value, There is an interesting story to that one (nothing bad) and why its mileage is so low.

Have a link to that one? I've been saving VINs in a folder to keep an updated "registry" of sorts.

This one? It has 3,500 miles  and it's in Pennsylvania.

Unfortunate that the first 6 lines of the ad describe the '60s elan, from when rack & pinion steering, independent suspension and 4 wheel discs were considered state of the art!

The guy's a car dealer, what do you expect?

"Not unlike your friendly neighborhood Classic Auto Mall writer penning these words of wisdom!"

Hi All. Just joined the forum as I am exploring the purchase of an Elan. I was eying the one in Pennsylvania, but the price seemed steep to me. What does everyone think a car in that condition should go for? $25k? While I like the low mileage, I would intend to have the car as a driver, not a show piece. I likely wouldn't put super high mileage on it, but I wouldn't want that to just sit in the garage. All help appreciated!
