haha. Once it's up, where do i put the axle stands? Are there some special axle stand points on the front?

Also, is it safe to jack both fronts up, or should i just jack and stand the left side, then let it down and do the other?

Bobface: That's how I do it. Jack one side, then put the stand there. Then jack another side, then put the 2nd stand.

Don't work on the car on a slope parking space. The weight on the car is too much front heavy and the handbrake is simply

Hi I know this is a very old thread - but I saw this - boy would I like one on the Holden.co.uk website - transportable car lift - 2500kg capacity.

Benmac mentioned that he uses a ice hockey Puck to use on the jacking point when useing a trolley jack, so i did a search on ebay and came up with this Rubber Trolley Jack Pad which is 3" diameter and 1" deep. Anyways i recieved it today but i`m sure it is an ice hockey Puck as it has "made in Czech Republic OFFICAL" stamp around the edge with couple of small symbols, which can be found on ebay cheaper http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trks ... w=ice+puck
I`ve drilled a 20mm hole in the center and had to chamfered one edge as it was just touching the Tub, or you could drill the hole off center.

Brilliant idea,

I've given up trying to use the scissor jack - I've used it so many times it's starting to seize up - dunno why - I'll have to get a replacement sometime .

I used the socket in the middle of my trolley jack for the last 18 months but have always been a little concerned - not so much the car falling off the jack, but the car partially slipping and damaging the bodywork - got some Ice Hockey pucks from Fleabay for around £7 for 3.

BTW the pucks say "trolley jack pad" on the side - is this usual?

Yeah my scissor jack has got more difficult to use (& it`s my 2nd one) it doesn`t help with my drive being on a slight slope and using a socket for me on my drive is to dangerous.

The other thing with using the Puck is that you can use most types off scissor jack as you no longer need the hole for locating

Well, as you'll all be expecting some cheap jibe based on unfunny puns and rhyme......

....I'll have to disappoint on this occasion...

Anyway, the answer being any one of the following (or a combination of many)....

1) I have 2 cars, so will keep one in each
2) If i need to lift the car, I sometimes use 2 jacks (one each side)
3) If it goes on a 4-post lift and i need to jack up the front, i need 2 pads.
4) I'll probably loose one somewhere along the line
