Since I doubt I could fit an hydraulic lift in my garage I was thinking about 4 of these. Standard axle stands give you only about 20" of height. These look like you could get over 3 feet making it easier to do just about anything under the car. They might get a little close to the body so I'd need to take some measurements but anyone have any thoughts on practicality, safety or the like?

I used to own one of these when I had my Nissan Patrol 4 X 4. Potential issue using them on the Elan:

-The handle length requires a lot of working room
- The base is relatively small - a plus if you're tipping a 4X4 off of it to get unstuck, but not very stable for working underneath, you would need to add a larger base for stability.
- I think you would have to extend the lifting "arm" to prevent contact with the body.
- mating to the jack points will be an issue.

My assessment - it would take a lot of additional work/fixturing to use these, and they only rise about an inch per jack cycle so the lifting process would be real slow.

Was a bit concerned about the base actually. And, I do think the arm is a bit short Oh well, this might be a better idea.
