Cleaning smudged old steering wheels...

Postby TOWATL » Tue 01.10.2013, 14:43

Hi guys!

The steering wheel on my car was very dirty and stained in a blueish tint from remains of sunscreen when I bought it this summer. I did not know what product to use to get the leather nice and clean again, so I asked the specialist workshop that did the refill on the air condition on the car, if they had a recommendation for me. They restore and repair a lot of oldtimers from Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Aston Martin, Jaguar and Rolls Royce among others.

This is what they recommended me (see pics): Innotec Multi Clean
He even cleaned the steering wheel for me in next to no time. :-)

It is a foam that they mostly use to clean and revive old carpets and dashboards, but he said that it would work perfectly fine on leather as well. Just apply a bit onto a soft dry cloth and rub it in. Let it dry for a few minutes and then clean it off with another soft dry piece of cloth. Done!

I will post pics of my steering wheel before and after the treatment in a bit, but do take my word for it: This stuff is miraculous! :-)

Beware that the lether will be very dry and maybe a bit porose after treatment, so it is advised to use your favorite lether care after cleaning is finished. ;-)

Hope this helps.

Cheers!
