Wheel Arch Liner decrudding

Not to sure if this is the right area or not but hopefully....

Has anyone any advise on how to remove all the accumulated crap that adorns the Wheel Arch Liners?

I have had, sitting for quite a while, a set of SS fastening for them but have never fitted them on the pretext that I'd like to clean off all the wax, tar, and general crap that sticks like an unloved BBQ before I do.

I have tried scrubbing with various chemicals off the Garage and Kitchen shelves but with no joy!

Anybody care to advise & cure for my OCD in this respect?

I found that most of the crud came off with a powerwasher, then a bit of scrubbing with a scouring pad.

A bit of blue paint overspray came off with cellulose thinners and a final wipe over with acetone.

If yours are particularly bad, the other option is to spray them with bodyshutz, or stonechip depending on whether you want a bituminous base or a hard base.

Both are flexible and will stick to the plastic - availlable in either aerosol or cannisters for spray application.

(I got 3 litres of gravitexfor the underside of the car, but didn't bother with the wheelarches as they cleaned up okay.) - 2 litres is enough for the whole underside, but i didn't know that when i bought it!
