introduction new owner

Hi, ok finally aquired a Lotus M100 S2 95yr - with the added highlight of a no. plate M33 3LAN : maybe you folks know its history ???
its an Azure metalic blue with the gold BBS S2 alloys.
Intention is this will be my new project, which i,ll work on developing my knowledge of this car - this plan will take several years to progress ( i,m in no hurry)
She,ll be going off road by mid Oct. because of the road salt etc.. - into my garage then we,ll see - so i,ll be spending my time reading up on your brilliant forum -full of good knowledge
The car is generally in good shape, forsure there are minor cosmetic things to sort out ranging from a bit of a touch up on brackets to swapping out some bolts for SS ones etc.. - fixing the glove box lock and the wobbly hand brake lever etc.
engine wise - it seems good - 84K - just had the timing belt done
brakes - new front callipers / rears refurbed and new discs
suspension is std
ss ex system
A frame and door seals have been replaced - roof is water tight ! ( on Tuesday night when I took it home it was a monsoon so good test)
suspension wishbones look good - galvanising is there versus rust
so this will be an owner hands on project
why did I buy it ????
i,ve tried the big broozer 400ft/lb 350BHP Tuned SAAB thing - very good fun
i,ve always had motorbike projects
always wanted to try something with a bit more focus on the driving experience ( I live up past Huntly in Scotland with some fantastic back roads all around)
anyway - there will shortly be a bunch of novice questions

Hi Norm, glad you found your way onto a great little forum

How long before your thinking of shoehorning a 9000 lump up front with T5suite tuning , as you know I went from 300+ 9000 to the little 1.6 Isuzu which felt a little underwhelming in standard form ..but with a few mods it will feel much better and yours is the lower powered S2 version

You'll find yourself speeding up into corners now, it really is good fun on country roads

There's not many Elan owners around Aberdeenshire these days, but enough to help when needed.

Archie is in Gairnshiel and I'm about 10 miles out of Aberdeen, so not too far away. There's a Club Lotus run on Sunday if you're interested including a barbecue: "meet at the Happy Plant garden centre at Mintlaw (park in the pavilion opposite) for tea/coffee at 0900, depart 0945, next stop will be the car park on the right just before crossing the Macduff to Banff bridge where another stop and a route plan will be issued, then on the old coast roads etc, ending cross country in Stuartfield where you will get fed."
