Hi all
I signed up a few weeks back so apologies for being so rude as to not having said hi sooner.
I have recently acquired a 1998 KIA Elan. I was in the KIA forum and noted that KIA Elan owners were welcome here? so hopefully that is so.
I am based in the UK and have a few small tasks before the car is back on the road. One of the tasks I have is with one of the front lights not popping up every time, solution seems to have been found here in the forum and parts are in the post
Anyway, thought I'd say hi
Steve

Welcome, Steve.
I've seen 1 Kia Elan before, at our annual Lotus festival in Donington a few yearsw ago. Compared to all the Lotus Elans around it, the Kia drew a lot of attention (none of it negative).
I understand that none were sold new over here. Do you know much about its history?

Hi rip
I have the full history back to the factory. It was fully loaded with all extras and includes air con.
Been sitting for a few years and was last started in December last year. It has 51000 km from new and Kia main dealer serviced until taken off the road. The dealership had one themselves.
Looking forward to bringing her back to where she belongs, on the roads.

Hi All
After a lengthy wait, It passed its MOT first try on Monday.

Its having all the belts replaced and all fluids changed early next week and then its on the road at last.
Lots of tidying to do on the paint work to remove shed/fence paint that peppers the car after a neighbour of the last owner decided to spray their fence

but at least I can start to enjoy some motoring very soon (next weekend I hope)

Hello Steve, sorry about the paint overspray if latex should be removable.

Your Elan is not an IT.
You must decide and soon before you offend the Elan God's. Male or Female

Hi Steve and welcome again
Try to get to the Hen&Chicken Alton first Wednesday in July. Apparently numbers were depleted this month due to unavoidable events but that usually leads to a good turnout the following meeting.
I for one will be there and would love to see "her"

Hi
A couple of pictures of "her".

I'll post better ones when she returns from servicing
I should be ok for the Hen&Chicken in July but it depends on work commitments.

I saw a Kia Elan for sale at a garage a few years ago when I was living near Frankfurt. I pulled up in my Lotus and the first thing the salesman said to me was "Is that a real one?"
Joking aside, welcome to LEC and enjoy a seriously rare car.
