15 years HJ2 on LEC!

Hi all,

Just a short message, i intend to introduce myselve more thorough when i can legal drive my Elan S2 in the Netherlands.

I intend to import a car from Belgium to NL.
The car is from 1995, a year in wich no cars where imported in NL. Due to the questionable hounour that all dutch folkes have to pay luxory taxes(BPM) on cars (it's TRUE!) i have to pay this tax when importing from Belgium.
The sum is usualy based on the catalogue price but... there is no catalogue price in 1995 in NL!

therefore i need to find out what the catalogue prices are in other years in NL. so i can have the conversation with the dutch customs based on facts.

is there ayone on he forum who can help me out here?
If import is succesful, you wil see me and my Elan in an awful lot a posts here

Welcome to LEC. If it helps I have the UK prices (original official price list from Lotus) for an Elan from 1995 as that is when I bought my car and exported it to Germany. Let me know if I can help.

The car is sleeping in my Garage right now. All went well during import and the car will be officialy allowed to been driven (by me of course) in the Netherlands.

A pitty though that i have to wait till after the weekend to recieve all the papers i need to get me new plates. The keys are burning on my table...

And now, after a LOT of new Elan experiences... finaly some pictures and an update of my story so far...
Here is the arival of my two new Belgian Friends. The red one stays in the Netherlands and won't return

Thanks, I focussed too much on the 640 part, but the height was the problem... Doh!

Finaly the one-day registration papers arrived. These are needed to drive the car to the dutch customs, and to the RDW where the car goes through an extended series of tests (Super-MOT) No plates yet!

So, after the customs and RDW, the regular MOT took place, no problems whatsoever. exhaustgasses where a bit dirty, but after i explained that the car sat stil for several months i could rev up the engine a little and the dials turned in the green regions... Phew!

After this i had to wait two long weeks with a LOT of sunshine, before i recieved all the papers so i could get my plates and drive!

car looks pretty good, are you all sorted now?

Finaly got around to do a small audio upgrade.

I ditched all the OEM stuff (Boston accoustic) which was still looking very good by the way. The only problem was that on one side the speaker was fastened with just one screw . Then upgraded the front speakers with high quality 16,5 cm Focal units, no bypass filter installed (they can handle it) . I left the rear spots empty, and installed a small, el cheapo, amplified sub IN the enclosure behind the passenger seat (so you won't see it)

I should have done this a lot earlier, this sounds an awful lot better than stock.
On my way to Italy and back, i have time enough to decide if i will have to install the tweeters, or i should leave it as is.

Took me an entire day (first time for me to open door panels), but now: One happy camper!

For the occasion I thought it would be nice to dust off my very first post on the forum!

Something truly amazing just happened!
I filled my gearbox with just a little oil so it is at max. level. Also I cut a small piece of the metal bracket off the first exhaust bend, as it touched the heat shield under the car sometimes.

And now for the amazing part:

For the first time since I have the car, all is perfect and up to my standards!
Everything works, no rattles, car is water proof, car always starts instantly, looks stunning and runs like the devil!

About 99% of all this was only made possible thanks to the existence of LEC and the fine members over here, so here's to you all:
