Just saved this one from near certain braking, an MOT failure with a long list of issues.

Just wondered if anyone had come across it ?

Where did you find it and what are/were the issues?
This could be the start of a pretty good project thread - let me know if you want it to be moved.

Hi,

I got it from Yeovil, it's in Yateley, Hampshire now.

The list is endless.

Usual Elan things wrong with her.

Rear Wishbones rusted through - Done
Water Pump leaking - Done
Thermostat stuck open - Done
New timing belts etc - Done
Rusted brake pipes everywhere - Done
Disks front and rear worn out -Done
Pads worn out - Done
Callipers seized - Done
Handbrake broken - Done
Boost gauge on max deflection - Done
Plug gap way too big - Done
Oil change needed - Done

Much more to do still !
The interior is very tatty - Needs sorting
Paintwork showing its age, peeling etc - Needs sorting

Spent more on it than it's worth, but it's better than being broken, which I think was highly likely.

I don't mean to be rude, but i would say the paint work is good. at least compared to mine.
Either way, welcome to the forum.

im sure your project has potential, the people in the forum are very helpful which is always a good starting point.

Hi,

I guess she looks Ok, the sunny day shows her at her best! The paintwork is crazed in places and the top coat is peeling around the boot and spoiler.

She's ok really, probably the last thing on the to do list, maybe never.

i wonder if you could wrap it for a lot less than it'd cost to paint?......
they seem to be able to do all shapes and sizes so I couldn't see it being a problem.....
the next thing would be colour.......how about mirror chrome .....maybe not.....

I would estimate the cost of a full colour change (gloss finish) would be from £945.00 + VAT subject to the final materials used.
The cost for door shuts & trims are extra.
Colours will vary based on different materials and substrates, should you be in any doubt about the colours being used please ask to view our samples.
We would require the car for approx 3 days for the application.

if your not into DIY its a good option. myself i looked at the price and decided i would try myself.
