Probably a dumb (newbie) question but are immobilisers standard on M100?

Just bought one which has a fob button, could do with a spare

Mine is aftermarket. The fun part is cutting them out of the system and returning it to normal. I want to get rid of mine.

As with so many things in life, the answer’s yes and no

On the SE, the alarm system was an optional extra. Your car may or may not have one, and it may or may not include an immobiliser.

The S2 had a Gemini Aquila combined alarm/immobiliser fitted as standard.

Many cars have had aftermarket alarms and/or immobilisers fitted (well or poorly).

New fobs/alarm keys for the standard setup are really difficult to get hold of and make work, especially if you don’t have the key code which came with the car (and which of us does at this distance)? I’ve been down this route and eventually gave up and retrofitted a completely new alarm/immobiliser with modern functionality and up to 8 fobs. Glad I’ve done it, but quite a long and intricate job.

FWIW, I have used this firm and they provided an excellent service. They removed the faulty system from my S2 and replaced it with an excellent Cobra alarm (,with 24 hour on call support!)

All for a reasonable fixed price..
