Just curious how you purchased the car without knowing the previous owner Was it a private sale (in which case you must have presumably paid the owner ?) Or was it through the trade ?

Just a thought... doesn't the V5 (I take it you have the V5 ?) still have the previous owners details on it ? Mine always have had until I send them off to the DVLA to get updated with my home address

PS if you have no documentation at all you might be interested to know that you can at least see past MOT passes and failures for free. Just search https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-status and type in your reg. no.

That would explain lacking the previous owner details, don't recall ever seeing it on here though but could be wrong. Under the GDPR rules I believe they no longer include the previous owner details on the V5 form, I assume there are no receipts or invoices in the glove box that would provide any clues?

Yes GDPR bought to you by our friends in the EU. What used to be simple reasonable and legitimate is now illegal and impossible.

Contrary to the advice that you are being given on Facebook The V888 only costs a fiver. However, rather than a list of names and addresses you get a letter that says that they will only give you that information if directed to do so by a court. I would be interested to know how you bring a case against someone you don't have the details for, in order for the court to direct the DVLA to give you the details.

You used to be able to ask the DVLA to forward a letter to the previous owner maybe you still can.

Just another thought for the new owner. Is the service owners handbook/logbook present ? If so, it might be worth checking the back pages and contacting the garage who did the last recorded service. They might just give you the former owners details although these days under these ridiculous EU GDPR rules it seems only a very slim chance

Looks like you will be needing quite a few parts. Hopefully no chassis/suspension damage though but check those front suspension arms carefully as they were subject to an advisory at the last MOT

Also check your oil cooler (FOS) and connected pipework for damage
