I’m looking for a good solid SE or S2 not too far away from Dorset If possible.
I’ve seen the yellow S2 at Snows in Southampton and the front panel fit is a real mess.
I also looked at the BRG SE in Southampton which was a contender until my wife kiboshed it on the colour.
I like the look of the Silk Red SE at Black and Whites in Poole but can’t seem to make contact, does anyone have experience of them?
The challenge is my wife doesn’t want a flat red, silver, yellow, BRG or white, apart from that she doesn’t mind!
As I said help me please?

Hello there and welcome to LEC .
What are your requirements , Budget , Mileage , colour .
Given that most of us on here tend to buy and then spend time doing all the bits i would suggest looking on our FOR SALE section for an LEC owner car.
That way you should get the best out of a known car and not pay the dealer price.
Oh and if a car has been self serviced i would worry to much many of us do this . It gives us enjoyment and these cars are relatively easy to work on .
Good luck .
Jim Clark S2 - 1/12. The one with the Yellow spoke wheels . No 613 on dash (pushed in to factory in wrong order 615 on tub)

Condition is the most important thing, I’ve tried both an SE and a S2 and I don’t think there is that much of a difference.
I can wield a spanner, we have a claret red 1989 Excel SA that we’ve had for 5 years doing all the usual steering rack, water pump brakes etc.
Colour wise Silk Red or the darker metallic blue gets the highest tick.
Willing to spend mid to high for the right car.
I have had a look on the for sale section here but couldn’t see any that are currently for sale.
Open to suggestions. Something To work on over the winter to enjoy in the spring would do nicely.

Look under his avatar and you'll see 'Derbyshire'... suggest you add your location to yours. We're a sociable bunch and somebody might then tell you about a local pub meet up..

Thanks, I did see the Derby location about 5mins after I replied, isn’t it always the way?
I’m in Weymouth
Cheers

Roger - go into User Control Panel at the upper RHS of this page. Select the Profile tag and then add Weymouth to the Location
You can even add other stuff about yourself ie hobbies etc...

Well have we had a good day.
We went to Barons Auction at Sandown Park Racecourse and placed the winning bid on a rather nice 1992 SE in Silk Red
Shame it rained hard on the way back and wet the carpets.
Now I need to try and stop the leaks and work on the slightly rough running.
Other than that it smiles all the way
And to work out how to post a picture

Welcome Roger,
If the registration number displayed on the auction site is correct you might want to look up these user names for some history of your car:

Ron,
Thank you for that I emailed Emma for some pictures and she kindly sent me one of the car during the respray.
I’m now thinking about getting an MGF hardtop and modifying it to fit as per Ken Read’s instructions. It might take me a while but the finished result should be worth it
