Hi All, thank you for allowing me to join. I am considering an upgrade from my MX5 NA to a Lotus Elan and would welcome your thoughts on what you generally get for your money. I see some for sale at £6k and others for £14k - is it too big a risk to buy the £6k Elans in terms of the money you need to spend in the future? I'm not a mechanic so just concern on the big costs to get the car upto scratch.

Welcome to LEC. Hope you find something, but in the meantime read the buyer's guide on this forum.
If you are not a DIYer, I would suggest you keep clear of the cheaper ones as they will almost certainly require a fair amount of expensive work. Your best bet would be to get a car from someone on this forum. It would be known and probably have a good history.

PS add your location to your profile in the User Control Panel tab at top. It'll help if you are near someone for guidance, once we're allowed!
