New Owner

Hi all

New to Elan ownership having sat in one as a kid at the NEC motor show I’ve wanted one ever since. I fondly remember playing lotus turbo challenge on the Amiga for hours on end (sad I know but I was 10 at the time) Seen a reasonably well priced car pop up on eBay last week had a cheeky bid and picked it up today. Have to say I wasn’t expecting them to drive aswell as it does and I’m blown away with how well it performs even against modern machines. The “you should never meet your hero” thing was firmly in my mind when I got behind the wheel but was very surprised.

Car has 94k miles with masses of history and 3 previous owners. Has been garaged all its life by the looks of it. I trawled this forum before collection and checked the usual items and all good. So far really really happy with it. Will need some paint correcting at some point and a new set of tyres. (Recommendations on those if anyone has them)

Sun even came out for a picture on the way home ..

Welcome to the world of the M100. Where about are you? I’m relatively new myself but have found lots of help and advice on here.

Welcome!

If you are enjoying it on old tyres it will get better and possibibly quieter with new rubber.
What size wheels ? my current preference is Toyo

Looks like the 15" SE OEM ones Simon

Welcome Anth. From that 1 photo your car looks like it has been well looked after. It certainly has a lovely sheen to the paintwork and has been well prepared for your collection. It also has an impeccable MOT history, one of the best I've seen

Enjoy your ownership :burnout:

Thanks Rambo - mechanically the car is perfect and has had the money spent on it judging by the history and bills.

I too checked the MOTs and it has had little or no advisories over the years. Still keep looking at it

Here’s a better view of the alloys ... Toyos on the back and Goodyear on the front

Can anyone recommend some decent floor mats ?

Hi Anth and welcome to LEC. As you've found it's a great resource. It's also reasonably friendly and not just virtually.
There are regional meetings, except covid has put a bit of a stop to that for now.

We in the West Midlands meet at the Coach & Horses Weatheroak Alvechurch. Keep an eye on the meetings thread once we can enter a pub again! Assuming you are close enough of course.
Also put your location in your profile as it makes the offer of help a lot easier.

They'll be paying the vaccinated of Englandshire to go to the pub long before you over 60s in Wales get the jab.

Apparently, they are now starting on the over 60s in Wales.....

.... but as a youngster, I am looking at the end of March at best (and Angie has to wait until April).

Welcome! I only had a C128, so I never got to play the Lotus Turbo series, but I guess I'm trying to make up for it now with the real thing :)
Congrats on picking up a great example of the car. Let us (me) know if you do find some floor mats which you like; I'm on the hunt too!

I’ve been very pleased with the floor mats I got from Steve at SJ Sportscars a couple of years ago .. grey with a yellow Lotus logo. Look to be lasting well too

I bought these about 5 years ago when the price and shipping was much cheaper. Still look like new https://www.sjsportscars.com/parts-and- ... C00028.htm
