Hello everyone!

I have just purchased a Calypso Red 1991 Lotus Elan with a little over 82k miles on her.

She runs really, really well, but has little things that need addressing, such as:

Power-Assisted Steering pump,

Top and seals are rough,

Paint is a bit faded,

Rear lights a bit warped (it was an Arizona car).

If anybody knows where I can source a few of these, the help would be appreciated. (On the seals, I have been in contact with Jaime in Fife.)

Thanks in advance! Looking forward to this Lotus adventure!

Welcome to LEC

PAS pump. What's wrong? If you mean the hissing sound like snakes when you're on full lock, they all do that. Or if you need a new pump, or 2nd hand one, try John (M100-NC) in North Carolina. He is probably your go to man in the States

Seals. Jamie, but he has a long list and only does this as and when. He is a busy man

Paintwork. Collapso red cars are particularly vulnerable to sun damage. If it is only mildly faded you could try T cut or another cutting compound. If it is more severe you will be looking at a respray or a wrap

Rear lights. Contact David (100turbofr) in France viewtopic.php?f=85&t=28864 Original group buy thread here viewtopic.php?f=85&t=27363

Or Dorian (burningflash) in Poland has a pair to sell to a good home viewtopic.php?f=3&t=29048

Hello Rambo,

Well, the PAS pump is not working. This makes for quite the workout when the car isn't moving. It's fine once it gets going.

I've been in contact with Jamie, and I'm on his list! Thanks!

Yes, the paintwork is faded, and it will eventually need a respray.

I'll contact those two gents on the tail lights ... I think I wrote Dorian from a Facebook post. Again, thanks!

How about a reconditioned pump if you can't get one over there?

Or, better still, sending your existing pump to a shop over there to get refurb'd?

Welcome! Looks like Rambo fitted you out with some great info already. For the soft top, I think FunElan just got his replaced, so he might have a recommendation too, but here are a couple of places in the US that offer the tops (I haven't worked with any of these before, so can't speak to quality or fitment - just passing on what I know)

These folks seem to be the cheapest I've seen, but they currently only offer the most common fabric type "StayFast"

This info is from M100-NC: "I know that Key Auto Tops here in Charlotte, NC actually had the official Lotus M100 "jig" so their top is supposed to be a really good fit. They offer StayFast/Topline. They will still make a top off the data they got in 1990... https://keeautotop.com/ They advertise on eBay... https://www.ebay.com/itm/284230859870? "

Finally, this place has both StayFast and SonnenDecke fabric options and looks priced somewhere between the first two.
