There have been tasks on my car that I've thought were way beyond my ability but I thought at least I'll save some money if I prepare the area. In the end I found that I could do bit more than I thought and then a bit more and in the end I'd done it myself.

Feels great when you sort things out yourself and can take a few pics to prove it to the next owner when you come to sell the car.
As Pete says so long as you can put the seat back in and drive it to a garage then have a go yourself. What is there to lose and you'll still save a few quid.

My wife's just divorced me because I wouldn't open the car door for her!
To be fair I panicked and swam straight for the surface.

After reading over what the other threads have to say on the jacking points and having looked at the state of the brackets behind the outriggers I can't help but feel the tack weld has given up holding the tapped boss. As the brackets look in alright condition from what I can see. With solving this and the small list of problems I know of currently (without driving the car), I am going to get her booked in at a garage up the road ASAP.
With the weather now making a turn for the better and the lack of time I can spend on her, I think this is the path to go down.

And that is both understandable and fair enough
