Very sad to see this, I probably have most of the body panels to repair it, as long as the chassis isn't damaged .....

So…… I may be incorrect but - I’m pretty sure I have bought the engine from this car. Had a bit of a saga with mine and if it is the engine from this car, then I’ve just installed it into my S2 Elan and should be ready to try over the next few days. Can anyone enlighten me as to its history? I’ve read some threads but not been able to quite follow - originally from an S2 owned by Dico. Then into this car owned by Sy V. Then into someone else’s hands, passed on again and next seen in a field not looking too happy……
Hoping someone will tell me it’s a good engine and well looked after, as I bought it as a bit of a chancer from eBay……
All info gratefully received - even if it is “don’t bother putting the £50 worth of oil in it!”
The muddy pictures explain somewhat as to why it looked there was part of a field behind the cambelt cover when I renewed the cambelt prior to fitting…….

I can’t work out how to post pictures of the engine - it’s quite distinctive with a Lotus Elan plug cover plate, a huge exhaust downpipe, red Samco hoses, a carbon oil separator cover and one of the limited series Lotus oil filler caps (no2).And some red vacuum tubes - for some reason with a tee in where it should hook up to the turbo transducer.

Obviously if the whole car couldn't be saved, then the next best thing would be that the parts could be used to save others.
One thing I can say for certain, when Sy owned the car, it would have had the greatest of care, possibly at Paul Matty's (I could be wrong here) but worth giving them a call, they should have records.
Posting photo's would be good,
https://imgur.com/ is what most use on here.

Edward,
I am replying via email, but long story short, I too believe this to be the engine that was still fitted to stripey at the time of its final drive into the hedge....... my reasoning is in the email.

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it
...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

I don't think Dico ever had an S2. His "Blue Beast" was a K plate SE, first registered in Jan 1993. I don't recall him mentioning having another.

Allo Allo
I purchased the engine from a breakers yard in the north east, possibly Scotland. It was from an S2 that had been rolled. The car belonged to a member (at the time) on here.
I never had it running, but from memory sold it to Sy.
That’s about all the info I have.
