I can offer parts or cash to someone who knows what their doing. failing that i could do with an idiots guide to removing it or atleast pointers for the ground work.

Hoist the engine up, remove the gearbox

Mate the (engine/gearbox) face to each of the four arms of the stand

The bolts would be the same spec as the ones fitted, only you can tell the length you require because of the thickness of the arms

unfortunately i havnt removed the engine, this is one ive bought, so i dont have the bolt to measure, when im looking for realy is the diameter, also i just wanted to check which holes to use as there are more than the four needed.

i tried an m10 bolt but that pushed through, just so im guessing its proberly m12?

Ask Dico, Matt, send him a PM, he don't come on here as often as he used to . He definitely knows !

Matt - I think you're looking at M12 by about 100mm, depending on the length of the engine stand mounts

thanks andy i got it sorted you were correct, i got away with m12 80mm on three of them but the fourth needed to be longer and have a nut as there doesnt seem to be a fourth thread to bolt into.

ive got a quick question, whats a fair price for...

Boot carpet
spare wheel and moulding
the plastic cover and carpet for the battery cover
roof latch
the plastic bin inside the arm rest
escutcheon
mirror glass
and the fuse box cover for passangers footwell.

been a busy boy this weekend, i removed the front bumper from the brg car, which was fun.... one of the captivated nuts managed to become uncaptivated so had to do some things im not proud of.... i also attempted to refit the hardtop as its settled since fitting, i added corner trim to the windscreen, and tried to seal up any gaps around the windscreen. fingers crossed, after seeing what its like in there id realy like to remove the windscreen realy tidy up the area and replace all the trim and seals, i also need to get my windows sorted as they need adjusting and are rattley. Still not got the bearing sorted but im going to remove the one from the brg and hopefully goto a bearing place and get it matched, will keep all posted on progress with that one. i got a breaker bar so i could attempt the hub nuts again but someone else already tried so im thinking of cutting the nuts off to save the hub (incase the thread gets damaged).

ive got one issue that perhaps some one could shed some tight onto, the hardtop is ace and im sure once i get the windows propery sorted it will be fine, but there is a fair amount of wind noise above 60mph coming from behind me, im guessing the rain sills are causing high pressure next to the window seal and i got to wondering if it would be possible to improving wind flow around the window area, on through is to add a curved rubber seal bonded in behind the A post seal carrier, but id guess that will only inprove it at the front (which isnt too bad anyway, the other idea was to bond something to the rain gutter that curved toward the glass something like a j shape it would have to be rubber so the doors could be shut with the window up, any ideas? also how hard would it be to make some sort of frame for the doors, it seems a week spot in the design an would solve a few issues.

You’ll have worked it out by now Matt, but it’s referring to where the end of the nut has been knocked into the groove in the drive shaft.

thanks ray, yeh i worked it out after slogging myself half to death on the bloody thing, i then decided to refer to the manual for any tips and saw the unpeen part. im running out of ideas on how to get it off, 2' breaker bar, blow tourch, lots of wd40 and even some optermistic drilling still hasnt shifted it. might just take my angle grinder to it and to hell with the hub. unless someone has a better idea. also been looking at 1" drive 1000mm breaker bars, cant help but think id proberly snap the car before that nut gives up.

It is done up FT or 170ft/lbs ish so it is going to be tight to undo!

scaffold pole usually does the trick.

Matt, your better off letting a local garage use a impact wrench to loosen the Hub nut. Just remove the wheel center cap, make sure it`s unpeened and they won`t even have to remove the wheel, then just nip up the nut just to get you home.
