Please don't take this personally, because it's just my opinion of the types I've normally seen (very few) who have put these on their cars. Mind you, these are the type of people seen on the MTV show "Pimp My Ride."
When I got my Elan, my best friend warned me about taking it to an SCCA Autocross event, because pretty much everybody there automatically thinks "douchebag," when they see a guy (they don't know) pull up in a Lotus. Imagine what they would think if it then turned out to have Lambo doors on it!
Sorry, but IMHO, Lambo doors on any car that isn't a Lambo, scream DOUCHEBAG! to all the world.
Again, that's just my opinion.
On a more serious note. Why would you put them on an Elan? To get more looks?? My experience in the 15 months I've had my Elan, is that everybody who comes within visual range of my car already rubber-necks to the point I'm worried somebody will get hurt.

Don't like them myself and completely agree with Chris, they are LAMBO doors. That said Lotus actually thought about putting some on the Elise but it was dropped. I believe Lambo doors on a Lotus spoils that "on purpose" attitude of the car; you know just necessary stuff, lightweight etc. Maybe, Elan isn't totally attached to that "just the necessary" philosopy but still those would be too much show for me. If you like them though it's your choice, car and money.

Lotus put them on the M250 concept car, but not on the Evora.
They certainly have no place on an Elan.

I can't say I like them either.
Opinions aside, how would you create a seal with the roof. Elans are bad enough in thins respect as it is.
Useful if you have a narrow garage?
