Hi all.
About to get my wheels refurbed on my S2
Don't like the idea of leaving it up on stands if possible.
I'm on standard brakes so the original spare space saver wheel fits.
Anyone got any for sale or other cheap wheels that fit as a temp measure?
South Wales based.
Many thanks.

Maybe check your local classifieds for any 4x100 wheels with a big enough center bore. Offset shouldn't matter too much if you just have them as rollers.

I’ve previously used two decent sets of axle stands for this purpose with no problems at all. However, my friendly local wheel refurbishers - who used to use axle stands - now uses universal hub stands which bolt directly onto the wheel hub.
Something like this.

I guess it works nicely as an anti theft system, too!
(Hi guys, it's been a long time since I posted on here!)

i clicked the link to see what kind of design would allow any stud pattern and stillhave enough meat around to hold and spread the wegiht of the car.
im assuming the ones posted are not "universal" ? the hole patterns dont seem to allow for 6 stud wheels

Joao, the ones I linked are ones that were used on my Boxster, and they’re universal - for Porsches. As far as I know, there are no Porsches with a 6 stud wheel (come to think of it, I’m struggling to think of any cars with a 6 stud hub, but I may not be looking hard enough)

Just cut out some discs of 22mm ply with 4 holes for the wheel bolts?

Well there you are - you learn something new every day! What a faff if you’re changing all 4 though. Think I’ll stick to a (3-stud) Peugeot 106

i wouldnt be surprised if that could hold the weight of the car.. personally wouldnt test/risk it (unless i was
very desperate) which makes me wonder if its genuine advice or satire

Take your pick
ETA. This technique was used by a chap restoring a Porsche 911 in the States, so he could wheel it around his garage. To be fair, the engine was out at the time and it may have been thicker ply.

All of these thoughts are great in their own way......
.... but I still don't see the problem with axle stands!

although i do agree with you (and in fact my elan has been on axle stands for more than 12 months in the past) i believe the OP is concerned about leaving hes elan on the driveway or street on stands looking like the alloys were stolen. which could in some neighborhoods be an issue (although not ilegal per se)
