Not much of a project really, but thought I'd post up some pics of what I've just done.
Iain (blacknight) got hold of grooved and drilled front brake discs so I fitted them this evening. I'm uncertain of whether they will improve the braking performance at all, but they certainly look better than the OE. And they wil be fine until I do the brake upgrades this winter.
While I was doing it I took the time to give the calipers a good wire brushing before spraying them with brake cleaner. Finally, gave the calipers a lick of paint (chavtastic I know

).
I dont think it looks too bad behind the wheel though. Nice and easy job too!

Paul, did you get any instructions for the correct direction for the grooves in the discs to go? And if so, did they give a reason?
It's just that I thought they were supposed to sweep forwards instead of back.
Striking fear into the hearts of duplicate posts everywhere...!

what matters more is the direction of the vanes in the center of the disc! -- those between the two sides of the rotor that go from the outer edge down to the center to vent it
they should go forward so as to catch the air to get cooled versus backwards
then the direction of the visible scores/grooves doesn't really matter

Thanks for the advice Doug, I'll check out the 'flow' direction of the inner vanes at the weekend.
Neil, there were no install instructions. Basically, we looked at a number of pics of sports cars and noted the direction of the grooves and copied it!
If it's ok for a £100k Ferrari I'm sure its ok for my £5k hunka junk! That was the thinking prior to Doug's intervention anyway!
I'll check it out and post up.

Just to put your mind at rest Paul it looks OK to me.
Grooved and spotty discs are directional LEFT and RIGHT (ie nearside and offside) The spotted pattern and the sweeping grooves should therefore be pointing to the rear which they do.
Job done Mr Bling!

Paul
Wilwood discs have a tiny little arrow on the outside of the disc to show direction of travel, check if they have.

Some discs just have straight vanes.
They look better than stock. The calipers look good in silver.

People searching this thread in future might get the wrong idea about the direction of the vanes. It’s more likely the air is intended to be drawn in at the centre and centrifuged outwards. As Rambo says, the ones in the picture would be correct. Visualise them revolving underwater.
