Oil seperator Hose approx £10-£14 if enough interest

Postby abmunro » Thu 18.11.2010, 18:50

I am looking to have a new Oil Seperator hose made from nice Blue sillicone tube.

This is the Tube that runs from the right hand end of the Rocker cover to the Oil Seperator. It is U shaped

My was butchered by garage when new turbo was fitted.

I have been loaned one from a fellow member and now I going to try and find a manufacturer, ie Samco or similar

I wondered if anyone else was interested in getting one.

Also any ideas where to get it done I have checked internet and found a couple of firms.

Cheers

Tony

Losing it entirely sounds interesting.
I opened mine a month ago, probably for the very first time, just to find... nothing that looks remotely like oil. Completely dry!

I have found in the past that when the boost is upped then you can get Oil in the seperator.

This was on my Sunny GTiR not the Elan..

Response from supplier

Hello,
Thank you for your email,
we would need the original hose to copy and make mould and also to be completely
accurate in our costing.
However I can give you an estimated price.

The hose needs to be moulded out of something, so
a mould (tool) is required.
Generally for these sort of simple small hoses the tooling
costs around £60-80 (we need to make the hose out of solid steel first and tooling
is priced to you at cost)

One off hose prototype / bespoke is estimated at £40-50

in batches of 10+ this brings down the cost to just £10-14 each.
then lower prices again for 50+, 100+ and 500+ qty

We can produce this for you before Christmas
if we get the hose within 3-5 days time

Kind Regards,

Tony,

Would stainless braided hoses (as per your turbo oil feeds) not be a more in-keeping? Can't imagine that the cost would be that much different, but again I have no real idea.

My particular preference would be to distinguish between the oil and water hoses, but that's just me :)

You'll have the cost and lead-time anyway... may as well go for what you want first time.

Hello Guys

I need to order 10 of one colour to get the cheap price.

ie - 10 Blue or 10 Black.

I personally want Blue but would have Black if people wanted Black.

I was hoping to have this done soon.

I am prepared to sort it all out and then get squared up later on.

Is there any interest if not I will buy one for the £40-£80.

Cheers

Tony
