Houdini's Project

Postby Houdini » Fri 18.05.2007, 18:47

I'm back after a very long absence. Work is just taking too much time lately so it's been months since I've even attempted to see what's going on here in any detail. For those that don't know my car I've made some mods to up the HP and I'm going to move on to brakes and handling next. Kind of ass backwards from my normal projects but as long as it all get's done it really doesn't matter. I'm only running 16 psi boost right now and I'm extremely happy with that as it's a nice usable 225 HP. I did have the boost up higher and measured 247 HP at the wheels at one point, but to be honest, in the real world of driving this is plenty. If/when I go to the track I'll crank the boost up to 19-20 psi.

So the car has:
Garrett Turbo (GT2560R)
Garrett Intercooler
Quaife LSD
Aluminum Flywheel
HD Clutch
AB shift cables with solid shifter mounts
Dave's short shift kit
RC injectors
Kingbourn wires
Accel coils
BOV
MBC
Dave M's rear strut bar
Auto Europe Roll Bar
Autometer gages

What's next:
Brian's Wilwood brakes (I keep waiting for my pads to wear so I can change over)
GAZ shocks
Team Dynamic wheels (Like Dave M's) I will be going with 17x7 with 50mm offset
Investigating better sway bar mounts
Alignment and corner weighing
A bunch of other stuff in a year or 2 if I still have the car (details later)

I drive the car almost every day now and it just keeps feeling better all the time. As I make additional upgrades to the project I'll post.

p.s. Might be meeting up with Tigerdog this Sat so he can see my car at Cars and Coffee. I know he's interested in buying one so the more cars he checks out the better.

Good to see you back, Russ! Hope all is well with everything and glad to hear you've been driving the car a lot. I just got my white car out this morning for the first time in 5 months and it felt so good! Anxious to see your car with the 17s. Hopefully I won't regret my decision on the 16s too much...

Let us know how the upgrades go - and WHEN (what's this "if" stuff) you go to the track, let us know how she flies.

Best wishes and talk to you soon.
Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Yep, we met up yesterday and Houdini was kind enough to let me drive his Elan. A very sweet car indeed.
