Thanks for the helpfull suggestions on the light spacing. The master (model) is pictured finished; so no big holes will be cut into it, the small holes you can see in the face are 'key points' for small mould parts to lock into. It's a bit more work for me on each one but it keeps the cost down and gives you guys more choice!

This means I can have one main mould for the panel and seperate moulds added for the different sized, spaced or styled light holes, when a light size is chosen by the customer I will assemble the mould and then laminate the GRP over the top. This is just the main part of a 6 part mould which will be used for any light system you might want; future proofing!

When you come to order the panel you have the option to specify these details. How's that for customer service! :-D

Costas' back panel has a different sized reg plate, so the spacing will be different.

IMO Costas light spacing seems spot on.

I wasn`t intending to get any lights yet but there was some elise S2 type on ebay just for oneside, it worked out for 1 inner & 1outter he wanted £80 + postage, made an offer and got them for £55 + postage. Now i`ve got to find another set for the otherside

So phil i`m ready for half a light panel lol :-D

If I were going for this I reckon I'd choose 2nd from bottom left.
(The Elise spacing is 1")

I agree!

Nice one Brian! Have a look at this drawing for spacing as the reg plate recess on mine changes the appearence from other panels.

I managed to pick up a set of Elise S2 lights (not the LEDs) at Donny, so I can make panels for both later type Elise lights. Dapinky also got a set so we are well on our way Monty, I'm sure you'll get the other two as elise owners upgrade to LEDs

Cheers,

Phil

Looks the business Phil :D

For my 2p worth, I still need convincing about the LED strip to light the number plate, as it may be easier and more asthetically pleasing to use the rear lit number plate option as per the TVR and Chris's use of it in this thread :?

Anyways, I'm in regardless

I think we have a winner - nice one Phil (and Geoff). The recess is important to "keep it in the family".
The illumination could even be mounted in the bootlid and have it's wiring running down the hinge.

Think Rogers solution to the number plate lighting is a clever one. Just 2 little holes at the side :-D

It should be easy to find a relatively cheap LED light source for either side of the plate that's small and could possibly fit into those little holes.

Thanks Darren, the prototype/#1 should convince you (and me) although there is enough room behind the reg plate to back light it. :-D

Thanks Geoff, turned up trumps again! 8)
Yes the led strip is waterproof and hides behind the boot lid!

The cleverest thing about Rogers Reg plate light, is that he has used the old light and doesn't have to faf about trying to find an alternative solution. :-D I don't think a pair of LEDs would be bright enough but then that could work to your advantage!

Only my 2p worth but I prefer the outer unit more towards the outside edge - more visability for side on folk which I believe may be a legal requirement on new stuff for some countries? Saves on side repeaters.
Can I suggest that as they are close to the boot shut line, as on Geoffs excellent photo shop render, then it might be best to increase the spacing a tad and equi space them about this line?

Have to say that the lights are a little to close to each other for me :? Just a slightly more gap would look better IMO

Too far apart for my taste. Between those 2 would be perfect for me.

2nd right from the top.

It's a good job that Phil's design is going to be infinitely variable then isn't it!
