Sump from Isuzu??

Is the sump from the US turbo Isuzu Impulse a direct replacement for the Elan sump? Might be easier to find...

Looks pretty adjacent to me apart from the shape at the bottom - cutout for the oil pickup?

Here's a used Isuzu sump on eBay if anyone is interested, includes picture from top, info on part numbers, applications, etc. No bottom pix, though - maybe it's dented??

You are viewing a oil pan off a 1991 Isuzu Stylus with manual transmission and 1.6L DOHC motor. Manufacture date 11/1990. It will also fit:

91 Impulse

92 Impulse turbocharged

91 Storm

'92 - 93 Storm SOHC

91 Stylus from 7/90

92 Stylus SOHC

93 Stylus

This oil pan is manufactured by Tokyo Radiator Mfg. Co. and their part number is: 053551

Isuzu Part Number: 897031-0190

Nitro, I assume that dent is covered by the lower baffle or you would have bumped it out already?

In the lower left? That's done by the press when the pan is made. (I do have another pan I can dig out, but I'm almost certain of that)

Here's the inside of the oil pan I took off the red car. You can compare it to see if you think the Isuzu one will work. BTW the indention mentioned is identical (you can see it pushed-up in the photo's upper-left. So it's not a dent.

Here's the inside of the Isuzu pan on Ebay from the 06-Jan post. You can see several differences on both sides of the pan. Thought it best to grab this shot before the Ebay add disappeared.

We've done a bit more work on the sump identiforcation, I now have 4 Pt No's including a GM Pt No, these are slightly different to the affore mentioned No's thou.(Including the Wiki)

I now have a new Isuzu sump to compare directly to the Lotus sump... :-D

I just hope we have a winner,

Sadly there may not be many more new ones left in the US,

Hopefully I can take that warning off the Wiki soon... :roll:

Finally has anyone got an Isuzu sump 8970310190 fitted? (As mentioned earlier in the thread)

It's not the one I have, but it may present more options...

I've installed a new Isuzu 8-97031018-0 sump, and it is the same as the OEM sump I removed (less the dents at the bottom :lol: ). The new sump has a Tokyo Radiator Mfg Co. label with P/n 870310180, andf what appears to be a serial number. I bought it on eBay ($50 USD!)and it was advertised for a 91-93 Geo Storm.

So that's confirmed, 60 odd squid new against 120 odd squid new

Must change that Wiki... :roll:
