Sorry – I made a mistake. The prom ID I am getting is infact 1499.

I run a scan without the engine running last night and I then run a second scan this morning with the car fired up for comparative purposes, in case it’s required. Hopefully I have run the scans correctly.

I’ve attached both of the results with this message in .txt form. Scan attempt one - engine off and scan attempt 2 - engine running.

Would somebody mind taking a look at the attachments to see if I have got things right and also to see if anything shows up that would point towards my running problem please?

Graham,

Did you save the .ecu file (File > Save)? The error codes are not immediately readable in the exported file (sorry, didn't think of that before) and I'm not sure of the encoding, although I think they are HEX.

No - I just saved as .txt.

Will I need to run another scan tonight and post up the .ecu files then?

I can't access .rar's at work, so I can't see what you've compressed. As Ailwyn says, the normal save (.ecu) binary file is better to post as it can be read back into ES for analysis. Another point for the user guide!

Hi Geoff,

I tried to attach the un-compressed articles (saved to my desktop here at work) but I was unable to as .txt files don’t seem to be allowed as attachments, therefore I compressed them.

Is there a way that I can post up the un compressed version or will I need to run another scan tonight and save as .ecu document on my next attempt?

ZIP is a more universal compression format.

You've got two error codes:

1) Mass Air Pressure low - possibly when driven as it looks OK at idle.

2) Oxygen sensor lean - I've checked the O2 sensor output and it is not good. You should be gettting a signal oscillating between <1V and >4V but yours barely gets below 1V and never goes above 3.5V.

Things may improve when it has warmed up a bit more, but I doubt it. To make sure nothing else is wrong, it would be good to see a run at idle from cold until the fans have cut in a couple of times (but you may have to give it some throttle at the end to get it warm enough to switch the fans and not in the garage of course!) and a full throttle 3rd gear run from low revs to redline (on a private road of course).

I think you will need to fit a new oxygen sensor. I hope to have a new one from the US soon as they are a lot cheaper than in the UK but I do need to replace it. :cry:

Firstly, thanks very much to all of you for your help in getting me up and running with this cable. It's much appreciated.

I've not been able to use this car properly for some time now and at least now I can hopefully move forward in rectifying the fault causing the running issues.

@ Geoff - Thank you also for translating my scan results.

I'll try a third gear 'on the fly' scan over the weekend and also an idle scan with the fan running over the weekend.

O2 sensors - is a replacement one upsetting to the bank balance? - what's the uk cost roughly for these?.

As soon as I have the additional scans, I'll post up the results. What's the preference here - should I make a new thread when I post up the next resulst or shall I keep this thread running and add to it?

Hi,

Bit of an update.

I have replaced the O2 sensor with a brand new Denso item and sadly the sensor does not seem to have cured my running problem - I have exactly the same symptoms as before.

The problem is so bad that it renders the car un-driveable and it's only capable of running on tickover for just 10 minuites or so before it 'hunts' very badly on tickover.

I've run two scans - the first was from cold with the encine not running. The second scan is with the engine running for ten min's but the symptoms get so bad after 10 min's that the fan doesn't get a chance to kick in.

Would somebody in the know be kind enough to take a look at my scan results in order to perhaps determine my next course of action/the next replacement part to try in order to fix this please.

thanks for the cable geoff

just having a few problems
1st problem the lap top has no internet access
2nd problem the other pc wont open zip files
laptop does not detect new hardwear when pluging in the cable
desktop does
o and the final bugger is the wireless sky broad band thing is s**t
so its agood job the cars running well then

Guys - I'm confused.

My last post on this thread - (see six posts up)....I posted both of my scan results up on Saturday 29th as attachments. Now I've just noticed that the attachments have disappeared from the post completely. I've not deleated them as far as I'm aware.

What's happened?

I can see them fine. Not that I know what I'm looking for in the logs, but the attachments are there OK. Is it possible you were reading not logged in, then logged in to reply?

To the chap having problems with Winzip, you can use the eval version for a while.

Not the first one to be caught out by that.

Not sure if they changed it, but it never used to time out. You just had to click the "I Agree" button (which occasionally moved) each time you ran it.
Windows XP's compressed folders feature does the basic winzip stuff too.

Indeed it does seems that I can't have been logged in as I am now able to view the attachments that I posted up.
