I picked up a Racetep aftermarket intercooler for the Elan, the unit was to be a "factory replacement" direct fit. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case.
Has anyone else fitted one of these things?
After finally getting it installed and everything bolted up, when I went to bolt the sway bar back up I discovered it hits it!
There is enough room to slide a piece of paper through across the face of the intercooler, but the bar hits the tank. Since the whole thing is aluminum (no plastic tanks) I did put it down on the ground and drive it around the block but I would rather not leave it this way.
Anyone have any tips on what I should do? I've already modified the fiberglass box to allow easier installation of the thing.
The plus is my car has a ton more power, after removing the factory cooler I discovered more damage than I realized was there - it leaks, bigtime. My dyno numbers will definitely improve :).
Any tips/suggestions are appreciated. I ordered up some S2 wheels and have full intentions to put some miles on this thing this season! (It's up to 9,800 miles now!)
Thanks.
