Anyone gone digital ?

Postby Blue_Bullet » Sat 12.12.2009, 02:46

They say the boost gauge isn't accurate !

So I thought maybe digital would be better!

Anyone done this/what you think?

I kinda like the last one, but I would only do it if I could do all the gauges to match. I think having just the one digital gauge would make it look too out of place. Just MHO.

Interresting stuff. Personally a bit too boy racer for the car but still very nice. Personally I prefer the VDO mechanical I currently have as it matches the esprit cluster also VDO.

I, of course, don't have extra money for projects like these, but if you want my opinion, I like the looks of the Drift gauges in the BMW. IF I could do them in my elan, I would only do it if I could do the whole dash, including the cluster. Metal Monkey dials would certainly make things more consistent than OEM dials in the cluster, and fancy ones in the FB3 area, but I like things to match personally. It needs a custom cluster with gauges in the same style as these. There was a digital dash available in the Astra, I think, but not quite the same style as these gauges.

It's close but it has changed alittle. Elimination of some switches, reupholstery of steering wheel and othe minor things. Gauges are the same though. As a whole it just got more refined

Those red digital ones would look wicked on your car!

I think I will get the blue ones with some blue Metal Monkey dials and heater plate with Blue Lights!

Would like to get the LGM hoses done first though!!!

I actually prefer analogue. Digital is really neat I agree but it just doesn't feel high end. Case in point. Rolex doesn't make a digital watch. The most exspensibe watch the make is mechanical. There's something to be said for that. On my previous exotic car the most advanced bit was the radio. Didn't even have fuel injection but it was still as about crazy as they come. Even by today's standards.

I changed my mind now lol

I think i prefer the swoosh ones.

And I dont have to worry about the colour so much! (cheaper too!) :)

ps
I see LGM's gauges better here-- - - - ----> viewtopic.php?f=39&t=8041&hilit=NEW+GAUGES

What work will I have to do to replace Boost Volts and Oil gauges with swoosh? Easy?
