Fault code. Lean O2 sensor

I am getting this fault code every so often.
Seems to be when running at maybe 2k rpm and very, very light load.

I'm assuming it means the car is running lean, but I dont think there is any base mix adjustment on the federal cars...or if there is, I don't know where.


Any thoughts?

From your other postings you apparently got coolant on the coil packs while replacing the thermostat.
Since the O2 fault wasn't there before then I'd think cleaning up the coil packs would be first on my list.
Disconnect the battery, remake all the wire connectors to the baseplate including the ground going to the front mounting bolt.
I'd remove each coil pack and clean up the spade connectors from base plate into the coil packs
If you want to clean the 4 output posts using fine emery cloth then I'd wear rubber gloves, rubber soled footwear and don't touch anything that can ground while you do it.
May also be worth cleaning the inlet manifold earth braid since all the engine sensors ground via this braid. It is just below the rear engine hoist eye (timing belt end of engine).
Then re-connect battery, hook up ES, take it for a run and see if the fault is still there.

I did get the fault before also...

But everything you suggested sounds good and I'll do that.
The car hasn't been used much for the last few years from what I can tell and I'm sure all the connections could use help.

My apologies, just re-read the other thread. Mea culpa. I had in mind about the misfire at high RPM/load (elsewhere) when suggesting cleaning up the coil packs.
Think Geoff's advice is good to clear the faults and then see what you've got.
Disconnecting the battery whilst you clean the packs will clear the faults.
