Will it pass an MOT with different size wheels though?

- The Evora has 18" at front and 19" at rear, but I have no idea whether this is OK on the Elan. Does anyone else know?

You'll struggle with 19" wheels on the Elan Mark. Might not even be able to get the wheels under the arches

Thanks for your offer. I'll check out what the garage say about the 16" option first as Jim is just up the road, and then get back to you

No problem with different sized wheels front to back - the only stipulation is that wheels on the same axle must be the same size (and tyre type)..... and that if you mix radial ply tyres and cross-ply tyres, the radials must be on the back (not that you'd ever find cross plys that would fit an elan wheel!).

Well thanks to Jim, the car has got through the MOT with no advisories. I haven't seen the buckled ones yet as they were closing as I arrived to pick up the car, but the mechanic has put them aside for Steve Williams to view next week and suggest what to do. Otherwise, I'll go to the place Jim recommends above, unless anyone has any recommendations closer to Berkshire?

Presumably the change of rolling diameter will mean that you will have to adjust headlamp aim.

We understand the rolling radius to be the same for the SE and S2. Lower profile tyres on the S2..

205/50 on the SE and 205/45 on the S2.

i.e. no need to change speedo gearing...

Hello,

i confirm that repair is fast and relatively cheap and works perfectly.
I had 3 of 4 done that way , just find someone who can do it not far.
Some motorbike mechanics are used to do that, it could be a thread.

I'm not sure what they did, but when they spun the wheels up before the repair it was obvious that they were very out of true. Cost to make good and rebalance was £42 per wheel.
