CAS rattle

took off the CAS to see if i could see anything obvious after reading the thread about the broken drive pin. The pin seems to be intact but the drive part can turn on the axis of the pin. the pin is only a tight fit on one side , the other side you can see the drive rotate around the pin, and the drive can move up and down across the shaft. so looking end on, the drive hole is about a 1mm bigger than the shaft is that normal ? the bearing appears fine the other thing i noticed is that with the CAS in place there is play, you rotate the disc of 5mm or so i guess that might relate to the drive spinning on the pin

just to add my only fault code is 54. The car runs ok after some hesitation/misfire and engine light on when first started. did 20 odd miles today . what also happened i pulled over to take a call,and left engine ticking over, went to pull away , had the hesitation/misfire engine light on for a few seconds then it cleared and run really well

Yest the shaft in the middle is smaller than the hole, and the drive is supposed to move in and out and side to side. This allows for misalignment between the cam and CAS.

It isn't supposed to rotate much ie in the direction of drive.

The pin in the drive should be tight though ?

Hi. I've looked at the video. Having handled a few CAS in my time ~ yours does not look normal.

Perhaps an oversized pin could work, but there's not much spare 'meat' on the spindle..

I see it has been done with a adapted drill bit as a pin in a previous thread . I might have a try at this method I've ordered some proper punches to drift out the old pin anyway and take it from there.
