Bluetooth ElanScan Application

Postby EDSM » Tue 21.11.2017, 02:51

Hi there,

I've been collaborating with the infamous there's only on f in Geof Smith, he has developed a Bluetooth ALDL adapter which has been tried and tested with the Elan. As part of my dissertation, I will be developing the mobile application to work alongside the adapter. I need help with obtaining feedback from potential users, if anyone has a spare couple of minutes and wouldn't mind filling out this survey.

I will be updating this thread about the development progress of the application and if anyone has any suggestions or questions, please don't hesitate to post here of PM me.

Elandroid.

Just curious about what platforms will be supported. Native app or browser based app? Since I may be one of the few Windows Phone users (in the world  ) a browser based app would work for me.

I don't know what technology EDSM will use but Xamarin could be a way to support more platforms ^^ (I never used it personally though)

Thanks for everyone who has taken part so far and in the future.

I must admit to having a bit of steerage on Pete's final year project, but I do have a small financial stake in his computer science degree! I hope he can develop something which is of benefit to the community, so please spread the word and feel free to make constructive comments and suggestions.

I haven't actually looking into a browser based app but that could well be something for the future.

I will be developing the application in Android initially, but could be ported later onto other platforms.

I may be wrong but I think Xamarin produces native apps:

I would like to develop with Xamarin! However, as this is my final year project I would rather develop in Android Studio which I've had extensive time using both the IDE and language.
