The car that stole the M100's crown...

Postby Jamie N » Thu 31.05.2018, 21:27

As the best handling FWD car of the 90's, highly debatable of course!, but there can be no denying that the DC2 Type R
is a wondrous machine on track and road, and when it does need fixed it is so beautifully built as to be a pleasure.
I've had a whole heap of these but not had one for at least 4 or 5 years, I had forgotten just how much fun they are, definitely
a very different driving experience from the Elan to say the least!. and when that VTEC comes kicking in... WOW!, Superlatives
in abundance with neck hairs standing proud!.

This example would be a worthy replacement for old whitey considering it was only imported in 2015 (and remarkably has been
allocated a 57 plate, considering its a 1997 car!), therefore the underside is in phenomenal condition with not a bit of rust anywhere,
a real top class specimen. Somehow though as good as it is, I don't think I could keep it long term and part with my little garage Queen :-D .

This is the engine (B1BC) that I would love to have in the Elan with the LSD gearbox, after studying on many occasions I don't
think it is a possibility though, Its on the wrong side for a start!, the K20 Type R looks much more do-able however.

Image
Thought I would give the Teg wheels a go on the Elan, they are 16" Rota Circuit 8's with a 40mm offset,
look ok but I prefer a darker coloured wheel on the GQ :D .

One of my biggest regrets was selling the Honda Accord Type 'R' that I had. Just loved that car and you just don't see them around, or the Integra, anymore.

:(

Good post. Integra was purported to be the best handling FWD car ever.

I always correct people because the Elan holds that title but the Integra could well be the best handling FWD drive COUPE of all time.

Let the results speak for themselves..

I do enjoy driving my DC05 ~ S variant so arguably better for road use.

Hi Jamie, at first I thought you had created a hardtop for GQ , after cracking the seal design !
Thankfully I'm off to specsavers next week....
I think the white alloys on the Elan give her a completely different look, nice to have a selection of wheels to try out on the road now she is MOT'd

Drove through 3 thunderstorm showers today, now I realise why they offered A/C ! but I prefer the open air and there cant be much room left in the engine bay once fitted.

Another thing you do as you get older is posting a quote of your own thread.
