Nobody else spot another Jim Clark special appear recently ? Shame it's a cat C but big saving on the price. Sounds like a very genuine seller -

I became aware of this one last night, as a result of a request for any knowledge of it.....

..... however, I don't personally know the car, and am no longer living 10 miles away from the sellers' location.

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

It's poorly repaired - the rear topshell looks like it has been grafted by somone playing pin the tail on the donkey - didn't they check the shut lines. You couldn't do it that badly and do it properly.
Poorly executed but nicely finished.

Thanks for the post. The car looks really good in the photos. I was going to see it this weekend (10ish hours round trip) but I think you'll know these cars better than I ever will so I'll go to the football instead.

Clemo I like the yellow wheels

If anyone has a good one for sale please email me

The advert doesn’t make it clear why the seller thinks it should command such an elevated price. :?

John, 68000 is low miles for an Elan. There are many people on this forum whose cars have covered over 100K miles. This is also an S2, which are considered by some (especially dealers) to be worth more (and SE owners would NOT agree )

Finally, the seller is a Lotus dealer, so you’re paying top rate for his overheads.

Having said all that, it looks a pretty good car, and I’ve seen S2s up for sale at higher prices (though whether they actually realise those asking prices is another matter). Mine is an S2 with 64000 miles and In pretty good condition, and I have agreed value insurance at £11,000.

If you can, I’d see if you can find a forum member in NW England who would go and have a look with you - I think we have a couple of Cumbrians on here.

Hope that helps
Jonathan

Yes it looks really good. The miss-alignment wouldn't be too bad to fix. The wing is still available so cutting that out to get to the rear topshell would be an option. Without that it is time consuming as you can't get to the back of the 'B' post. A good specialist bodyshop would sort it... Which makes me wonder why it was Cat C - That is what would put me off.

Such a shame the didn't do it properly in the first place. I get the feeling this has been paid out by the insurance , shoved in a garage for 7 years until the prices have come up then repaired and serviced. Any ideas when the repair was done ? could it still be under 12 months defect warranty ?

Thought it looked quite tidy myself. Upgaded PNM front brakes, recirculating dump valve, silicon water hoses (Samco?) and reasonable new alloys. The seats will be better than standard too: look like Mazda RX8 (?) or maybe SLK, but not necessarily to everyone's taste. Only downside would be the hood seals, as indicated. Body looks OK with reasonable shut-lines. Pity about the colour!!!!!!! :(

Oh seems we have a different of opinion, let’s just say I like mine to look like how they came out the factory,
I do agree with brake upgrades as anyone would , you’ll have to enlighten me about engine upgrades over a pint at CC

very nice lines on that hardtop . Maybe a very rare NTC hardtop . but more than likely an MG conversion .

Bonnet and/or light pods look badly misaligned to me, particularly drivers side . Obviously could be realigned with some spanners and patience but makes me wonder why they're like that...
