(Solved) Elan engine switch off during ride error 34

Hi friends ,
Today’s with a perfect weather ( 30* ) finally I get
Out with my Elan for a style ride but for somehow the
Ride went for a dramatic stressed the engine started to fail
With the orange light in dashboard on and the engine stops !
I checked the fuel ..... yes maybe it’s the problem with a lot
Of lucky I got the fuel station very closed ..... 40€ filled and let’s
Starts the engine ..... 4 , 6 times after it runs......
5 minutes after the engine stops again ..... with more
4/5 times the car get started again .... I thought no way I need
To get back to my garage and with lucky I arrived !
I did made the Aldl diagnose and gave me the follow
Error - 31 and 34 which seems something with pressure and voltage
In the turbo ? Anyone knows what’s the problem ?
2 years ago I did replace the fuel pump and motor head gasket.

In my experience 31 & 34 are to do with a sticky turbo wastegate causing overboost.

In my case the engine went into 'limp home' mode as CEL came up but after several seconds would clear and go back to normal and be driveable as long as I kept away from full boost.

I check my wastegate operates with a tyre pump connected to the wastegate capsule hose using a tapered (airbed) adapter. (It's part of the wastegate actuator check in EMK manual P30... 10 psi should move the rod 2mm)

Remove the top turbo heatshield so you can see what's happening and pumping into the actuator you should see the rod move the crank on the wastegate rod. If it's stuck grip it with mole grips or similar and give it a wiggle..

Hi friends ,
Update of my bad karma:
I went with the car to the mechanic and for my surprise the car
Works well ...... with 2 days working well I went to the highway
With the car at 100kph in a lovely sunny day a lot of traffic
The cars stopped ! Yes really stopped with no gas symptoms
Tried to switch on with the key the car started soon I pressure
The throttle goes off again .... a lot of black smoke and error 34
I did change the MAP Sensor and no result .... the cars seems
To has a lot of fuel , today I’ll change the CTS sensor .

You can check the CTS with a multimeter as it's only a thermistor ( a resistance that changes significantly with temperature). With a Hot engine it should read around 70 ohms; Cold should be high thousands of ohms (Manual quotes 100k ohms at -40°C which is not very useful as -27°C is lowest ever recorded in UK) I did measure it at 'normal cold' (think it was 12°C) and added it to my manual but I'm not where they are but think it was about 5k ohms ... There are 2 pins in the CTS and you have to measure across them, not to engine / earth..

Normal CTS failure is to open circuit ( = permanent very high resistance) so starts from cold OK but as engine warms up will run too rich, emit smoke, and stall... let engine cool and off you go again .... until it gets warm ..

Edit ... forgot to mention ... if the CTS stays high resistance when the engine warms up it should generate a Code 15 but CTS output is used in conjunction with Map Sensor and CO Pot and if CTS signal is wrong you can get codes related to those ...

(also a break in the CTS wires will give open circuit so starts OK cold, not hot .)
