Recommendation for pre purchase inspection -Congleton

Hi all, can anyone recommend a garage near Congleton with suitable expertise to carry out a pre purchase inspection on an S2 ?

The obvious answer is Oakmere Cars in Northwich: Lotus dealer and previously Lotus specialist known by name of Chris Neils.

Presume it's a private sale. There may be an LEC member who lives close by.

Hello Twayblade, welcome to LEC. When I bought my S2 ( private sale ), in 2013,I enlisted a vehicle inspection with the RAC. It was'nt too expensive and gives peace of mind; possibly a bargaining tool if any work needs doing! Just a thought anyway. Good Luck with any prospective purchase. Cheers from Clive.

Both good suggestions. If you go with John's suggestion get the Congleton garage to drive 40 mins to Oakmere and get it up on their ramps for a proper inspection. It will cost a fair bit though, even if you go with Clive's RAC inspection. Make sure the RAC get the car up on the Congleton ramps and give it a good going over underneath, particularly the front/rear wishbones (rear wishbones are galvanised on the S2) and all links

A full inspection of the inner cills/jacking points/outriggers (borescope) is also recommended

If you want to let us know further details of your prospective purchase ie reg no, colour, limited edition no. of 800 then we may be able to help further as the M100 may be known to us (Geoff is the holder of the S2 register) Can you post a link to the advert ?

I think there are a few metallic BRG S2's known to us. Geoff will know for sure if its on his S2 register. PM him with further details

Clemo is the keeper of the register now Mark, but N270xxx was last seen in May 2000 with 17,000 miles on the clock.
