Today I got paid for the first time on my new engineer job and the amount was higher than I anticipated.

Things that made me smile . . . . NOT

Just got back from the weekly shopping run to Tesco's (we know how to live), where I had an argument with the manager. I’d picked up this month’s “Classic Cars” magazine, which has a big section on Lotus.

When I got to the checkout, they said they couldn’t sell me the magazine ‘for legal reasons’.

I queried this, and asked to see the manager, who repeated the tale, so I politely enquired why they had things displayed on shelves that you couldn’t actually buy. Whereupon she terminated the conversation.

What could there be in a perfectly ordinary classic car magazine which causes it to be pulled from the shelves?

Maybe you're not old enough for a magazine from the top shelf.

And the years have suddenly shot by! Renewed my driving licence as required at 70, did it online. There was the inevitable customer satisfaction survey at the end.

Final question:

How likely are you to use this service again?

Especially given that the president of the Supreme Court, who issued the judgement, was born and educated in Scotland.
