Sunday drive round Pembrokeshire

Postby dapinky » Tue 15.06.2021, 18:00

Well, sometimes I look out of my window at the drizzly rain in Wales and wonder why we moved here.....

.... and other days the sun is shining and I realise that this is why!

The local clubs organise a 'scenic drive' every year (except last year!) which starts about 5 miles from my house, and continues for 55 miles over the Preseli hills of Pembrokeshire (where the rocks which form Stonehenge came from). A half-way stop for picnic lunch at the Dyfed Shire Horse Centre was an opportunity to walk round and see what else was there (there were over 250 cars this time). All sorts from the humble to the hypercar (Triumph Acclaim, lots of 'mainstream classics', a few soft-top German things, a fire engine, 3 Astons, Audi R8, some Japanese stuff.... and one other Lotus - a S1 Elise). There is never any hint of elitism, with everyone just enjoying the opportunity to drive whatever they have. Surely this is what owning a "classic" is all about?

It's strange how the pro. photograhers with a their fancy gadgetry make Emerald Green look like black

I like the 3rd shot in the meadow best

PS we have had a brilliant summer and autumn in Scotland and I've been for long drives out about 3-4 times a week :burnout:

We had another similar route/run a couple of weeks ago, and this time, Angie made it!!!

I have to say, some of the roads round here make it a pure joy to drive a Lotus (or any other 'toy' car or bike!!!!)

Car is looking great Dave, makes such a difference to the look of the Elan when there is only a small distance between the tyre and the arches. Are you running coilovers?.

Jamie,

I have been on AVO adjustables for the last 6 or 7 years, and when I fitted them, I set the ride height as per the workshop manual. From some angles it still looks a little high, but it seems to drive spot on, so I haven't changed it in that time.
