Los Angeles Elan Front End Renovation - the D plug!

Postby FunElan » Sat 16.03.2024, 23:04

Hey all,

Midway through renovating the front end on my federal Elan. I've documented a bit of it, but the piece that I made sure to document was the removal of the D plug in the transmission and the installation of a much more sustainable fill plug compared to the speedo drive.

Attempted to embed, but couldn't figure out the right bit of the url to add in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lBf0BH ... chCashPoor

Thanks FunElan, that D-plug removal/replacement with the Subaru drain plug is a brilliant idea
Speedo cable removal was a real faff

Thanks! That's exactly what I tried, didn't show up in preview. Either way, that is NOT intuitive. Youtube even has its own embed code which doesn't work here.

The ONLY way I could see the speedo cable with my eves, was to look from the RHS rear part of front fender towards the back of the engine bay. Or remove the intake hoses and coolant expansion tank. Seems needlessly difficult.

This is a great coincidence. I've purchased all the suspension bushings, and having Barry Spencer replace them this coming year. New shocks as well. .
(831) 239-3563 He's that backed up. Your video was right on and it does look like a bigger job, and I already knew.
By chance, will you be working, this coming weekend? I will be in Woodland Hills for Thanksgiving, and would like to see this project in person  text (831)239-3563
