HI all.
I posted a while ago I was thinking of buying an Elan.
Well, I negotiated a maximum price allowance with my wife and took ownership of Par's black Elan SE this afternoon. A great guy to deal with and talked me through all he's done to it.
Here's to a lot of happy Lotus motoring now before there's salt on the road and next year.

You already know how much use this forum can be, but as you have a good example of the car to start with, from a caring enthusiast owner, I'm sure that you won't be needing too much of the 'Help, my car is broken' section of the site!

Now that I have sold the Elan after almost 10 years of ownership there are 2 things almost guaranteed to happen:-

1 - Values of Elan M100's will now start climbing astronomically

2 - We will now have good prolonged summer weather in the UK suitable for a convertible

i forwarded 3 different potential buyers to your post over the past... 6 months ? and none ended up buying an elan.. IMO the best example for the best price by a large margin... only issue is Fife is soo far that everyone was unwilling to commit the travel money to see a car.

now i certainly hope your right about 1 and 2... i have a car that is nearly finished and ready for a new owner, and i could really use my Yellow car... i havent enjoyed it much lately.

Fife is perfectly placed, it is other places that are too far from Fife

There does seem a reluctance from most to travel North to buy a car, I have often traveled hundreds of miles to buy secondhand cars even some only costing in the hundreds. Longest was the red eye flight to Southampton and back home in Fife by the evening!
