Drilled Rear Discs

Postby FunElan » Thu 28.07.2022, 06:36

Hey all,

I had my wheels off today and got a closer look at the rear discs and suspension. Looks like someone drilled the discs on their own, or am I missing something? Anyone know what setup this might be?

Thanks,
Matt

the rear discs are one piece with the hub unless you got a conversion kit (which from the picture i suspect not)
and those holes do look manually drilled.

Thanks, I knew about them being one piece, but had never seen them drilled. Guess someone got creative in the past!

I haven't seen a conversion kit in my searches here (perhaps bad search terms). What kit were people using? Or was it custom

Sorry to revive an old thread but my car has dimpled and grooved rear discs but still retains the bearing setup. Where would these have been sourced?

what do you mean by "retaining the bearing setup" ?

the disc and hub is 1 piece. the bearing is (equivalent to) a golf mk 4 bearing.

to my knowledge. there was never anyone making a 1 piece disc-hub which was different to the original discs.

there was many years ago a conversion kit to have a separate hub and disc. which opens up the range. as the discs are then the same as the Astra G

a few years ago Ronr figured out how to use the astra g hub as well. by machining the uprights and a little ingenuity, to my knowledge theres only 3 cars installed with that modification, Ron's, Mine and Dave's (technically hes wife's car) but it should be easier to get variations on the disc design if your using the GM part

as far as im aware. all 3 setups use the same bearing.

if you wait a couple of days. probably someone will cirrect me if im wrong.. and i certainly would like a confirmation in case my memory serves right.
