the pictures kindly provided by this e-bay seller are a very good example of what you don't get the chance to see of chassis rust spots when the chassis is otherwise still on the car - look's crap but 90%+ of this will easily clean up - but the lower double skin between the rear suspension legs and the main chassis box and along the bottom rear of the front panel - again double skinned - is where a bit of fabrication will probably be needed
Well worth a look - if your about to tackle treating what you do see with the chassis in place - might help you decide if dropping the chassis is whats needed

Hi looking to buy an S2 elan.
New MOT but needed a plate welding on chassis .
Should I be concerned ?
I come from baby elans and welding was a no no;
One would replace the chassis and I have done that .
Obviously lower cost and simpler.
Comments and guidance appreciated.
