Well at least you can be sure it will provide the same performance gain as your proposed intake mods

Yep. I use K&N oil filters now because they have a 1" removal nut designed into their casing. Getting a spanner on there is not easy, but I can't get any 'normal' removal tool on there.

Need to be very careful removing the air filter. I forgot (!!??!!) to disconnect the battery, the spanner shorted across the starter motor contacts, got too hot to touch and warmed the oil filter very nicely thank you!!!

Fortunately no damage was done, but two salutary lessons were learned: disconnect the battery and buy a K&N filter next time!

That's a very long spanner you have Fred!

Steble,
Lotus weren't happy with the intake routing either - Details in the Hughes book.
I suspect that they had the intake facing backwards for a reason though.

Any of these ??

http://wikilec.9600.org/index.php/Spark_plugs

The reason I ask is that the Wiki recommends 2 types and the gap differences are either 0.8 mm or 1.1 mm ??? Anyone know why the gap size should be so different ?

Ah I didn't know there were alternatives, I put in the top ones on that list. which are listed on the PNM website (and damn near everywhere else lol)

The ones that were in there were the NGK 1.1mm gap ones

I used NGK Iridium, originally with 1.1mm gap. Wide gap caused misfires under hard throttle and boost in Smaug. Rather than chuck them, I went old school and regapped them to .8. All was fine after that.
