leaking coolant and no heat through heaters

Help, My coolant system is loosing fluid abd i have been told by hr owen that its the water pump. could this be true.|?? Also i am failing to get any real heat from my heaters!!! i am toping up the coolant everyday! they are producing a small amount of heat but not enough to keep me warm in this weather\!!! would this be a faulty thermostat?

2 - probably an air lock.
No point in trying to fix the heater problem untill the leak is sorted in my opinion.

how about a bad/faulty AND leaky coolant valve to the heater core! This may be the cause and is written about in the site here

I also say heater valve but you should check your drain plugs also, mine totaly disinagrated and were leaking away but this sounds more like the heater valve.

where do i find the coolant valve? Sorry new at all this mechnical stuff!??

IIRC isnt it under the O/S headlight.....
open the bonnet and pop the headlights too and theres a black hex plastic screw thing under the O/S (well UK cars anyway)

You have to reach between the coolant header tank and the engine block and the valve is hidden behind the intake plenum where two pipes come out of the bulkhead. Rather restricted access!

Anyone confirm a properly working replacement part for the heater control valve? Didn't want to throw in the Napa 660-1200 unless someone can confirm it works the right way. The link suggested parts but didn't have any actual "follow up".

Ref the cooling system bleed valve under the left headlight (UK cars only) - go easy on this as I just sheared mine off, maybe the plastic got old and had had enough. Yikes! Fortunately the headlamp is easy to remove and with a quick couple of holes from a drill, a screwdriver got it out. Tighten finger tight only - you have been warned - or better not to touch it all!
