Squealing at 3,000 rpm?

As I accelerate I don’t hear anything passing 3k but in every gear when I take my foot of the break and coast, once the tac hits 3,000 there is this loud squeal from under the hood. Any ideas what it is?

Turn everything electrical off and see if that stops/reduces it...if so, your alternator belt is too loose and needs adjusting.

Everything was turned off and it was just as loud. Do you think it could still be the alternator? Could we safely say it is for sure a belt?

I still think it could be the alternator belt...does it get worse if you turn everything electrical on then? LOL.

I would never say for certain that any forum diagnosis was sound. But that's where I'd start.

Could also be the PAS belt

I had this and adjusted the altenator belt three times, only for it to return to squealling shortly after (as each adjustment took the best side of an hour (it aint 'alf tight in there! )) this was a pain so I took the adjustment bolt out to see if I could replace the bolt (had thought it had stretched), only for the bracket to completely fall off.......yes, the bolts holding the bracket to the engine had worked loose!!! Repaired and it has not squealled since!
