Hood Tension Cables

Postby enndee » Sun 28.03.2010, 09:46

On the front end of the hood, the tension cables have a crimped fitting like a car electrics crimp tab, which is pop rivetted to the frame. One of mine has corroded and come away so the hood on that side is now loose and flappy!!!! :( Is it possible to replace the fitting or is it a cable replacement? Where can I get a replacement cable?

its a bugger to fix, i think you have to peel the fabric of the front frame back to get to it,
its on my todo list, all i did make sure the front crimped bit is not rubbing on the hood,
there's enough play in the cable at the rear to re crimp,
i didn't like the idea of peeling the fabric, think i needs a stainless crimp and rivet if its going to last,

Thanks for the reply.
Have not been able to source any stainless steel crimp tabs so far. Does anyone have any experience of this problem? I have the normal electrical crimping pliers but considering the tension the hood is under, I doubt that they would exert enough pressure to stop the tag pulling off.
The car is not daily transport and I rarely use it with the hood up anyway, so it's not a massive problem but I do want to fix it. HELP please!!!!

enndee, have you tried Trim Technology as they made them in the first place so may have the parts you need
