If anybody is interested, I am having various upgrades done to my car and the chap doing the work tested the car before starting to see how much power it had, for a comparison.
I am not much of an expert with cars, but will write about the work undertaken in more detail, the prices and the people who did the work in the minor projects section. It is worth a read, because, if you did this work yourself, for £1100 we just hit 245 BHP at the flywheel, 222 at the wheels!
All without the need for bigger Turbos, re plumbing, ECU, larger injectors, bigger intercoolers etc. whilst still maintaining safe limits and not using suspect devices like fuel cut defenders etc.
Add in a custom built down pipe (currently underway) and this should give 250BHP, with even better drivability
I haven’t driven it yet, but the builder said there is virtually no torque steer or lag whatsoever! He is used to building big CC cars to 800 BHP+ and even he was impressed!
The only upgrades before starting, for performance gains, was the Quicksilver exhaust. This is on a totally standard 1990 SE without a Cat, 21700 miles and in need of a service!
The starting BHP was 199 BHP at the flywheel 172 BHP on the road....not bad for a 2” exhaust without the excessive noise and the need to port the waste gate.
And apparently, it was not as bad (the Quicksilver) as I was led to believe.....maybe it was my original fitter making excuses?
